Rick Ware Racing Joins Chevrolet in 2026 Technical Alliance with Richard Childress Racing
Rick Ware Racing (RWR) has announced a strategic shift for the 2026 season, transitioning to Chevrolet with a multi-year technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing (RCR). This move marks a departure from their previous commitment to Ford, which RWR has utilized since 2022.
Team owner Rick Ware emphasized the significance of this partnership: “Chevrolet has always set a high bar with its people, its performance, and its passion for racing. Partnering with them gives us the resources and support to make real progress on the racetrack.” He underscored the importance of the collaboration with RCR and ECR Engines for RWR’s sustained growth in the competitive landscape of the NASCAR Cup Series.
RWR plans to field the No. 51 entry driven by Cody Ware in 2026. The team noted their aspirations to elevate NASCAR performance to match their success in other motorsport disciplines, including NHRA and World Supercross.
Pat Suhy, GM Motorsports’ NASCAR Competition Manager, affirmed the partnership, stating, “Rick and his team have shown a real commitment to growing their program. Bringing RWR into the Chevrolet fold is a win for all of us.” This alliance positions both teams for potential growth and enhanced performance in the upcoming NASCAR seasons.
