TSport 200: Layne Riggs Secures First NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Victory

In a commendable display at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, Layne Riggs captured his inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory in the TSport 200, dominating much of the race. The driver of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford led 160 of 200 laps, pulling away to win by 1.864 seconds over Corey Day, who achieved a career-best second-place finish.

Riggs’ victory marks his second of the season, cutting into the substantial points lead of Corey Heim, who finished third but clinched the regular-season championship. Riggs expressed elation post-race, stating, “I’ll tell you, this truck was badass, man… I was just out front saving my tires at the end.”

Day’s performance was notable as he echoed the sentiment that his Nashville Superspeedway experience had clicked. “I’m really glad to finally be delivering results,” he said after the race, adding, “I really want to be doing the burnout up there.”

Stewart Friesen initially finished third but was disqualified post-race for failing height requirements, which overshadowed a strategic early pit stop. Grant Enfinger and reigning champion Ty Majeski rounded out the top five, further solidifying Majeski’s position above the playoff cutoff.

The top 10 also included Chandler Smith, Daniel Hemric, Tyler Ankrum, Ross Chastain, and Rajah Caruth.

With only two races remaining in the regular season, Riggs now has 16 playoff points, trailing only Heim, who boasts 39. The Playoffs are set to begin on August 30 at Darlington Raceway following the upcoming races at Watkins Glen International (August 8) and Richmond Raceway (August 15).
