Blaney Clinches Victory While Hocevar Fights for Position at Nashville Speedway

Nashville, TN — Ryan Blaney secured a commanding victory in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Super Speedway, holding off fierce competition, including a notable charge from Carson Hocevar, who started in 26th position.

Blaney, representing Team Penske, executed a masterful race strategy, finishing ahead of Hocevar by managing traffic effectively in the closing laps. Hocevar’s journey to the front was marked by substantial drama; he ended the race in second place after an aggressive drive, including contact that prematurely ended Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s day.

Hocevar rapidly climbed through the field, achieving a seventh-place finish by the conclusion of the second stage. A critical undercut during the final series of green-flag pit stops elevated the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet to second place on track. As he pursued Blaney, his momentum was hindered by traffic, ultimately resulting in another near-victory, marking his second runner-up finish this season.

"This proves how strong this group is… coming from disappointment last week and qualifying poorly to have a shot at it," Hocevar stated post-race, reflecting on his performance. He acknowledged a missed opportunity from a previous race at the Coca-Cola 600, where engine failure thwarted his potential win while contending for the lead.

Hocevar continued, "I was possibly being a lot more vocal on the radio than I needed to be… but you’re just trying so hard. One spot short again, which is — at least hopefully this is a step in the right direction."

As he seeks his first career win in 59 starts, the performance in Nashville showcases his growing competitiveness within the series.

Key race metrics recorded during the event underline Blaney’s strategic prowess in managing tire wear and navigating the challenging race dynamics, further solidifying his potential heading into the next round of the NASCAR Cup Series.
