Suarez Faces Uncertain Future Amid Contract Talks with Trackhouse Racing
Daniel Suarez, currently in a contract year with Trackhouse Racing, remains tight-lipped about his future with the team, expressing uncertainty during a recent interview on "The Dale Jr. Download." Suarez, who signed a one-year extension in 2022, emphasized that significant decisions remain pending as the season progresses.
“There are still a lot of things in the air right now,” Suarez stated. “I love Trackhouse and this team… I want to have more success with this team, and I want to see this team successful regardless if I’m in it or not.”
As the No. 99 driver, Suarez acknowledged the pressures facing him and the team, highlighting their current position in the championship standings, where he sits 27th. He emphasized a “must-win situation” to qualify for the postseason, noting that the team has fallen short since his last victory in the spring of 2022, following two wins in 2021 and 2022.
“A lot of things have happened in the last 10 months,” he said. “It’s been a little bit of a struggle… We have good racetracks coming up.”
Trackhouse Racing, now fielding three full-time entries, expanded its roster this season with the addition of Shane van Gisbergen. Moreover, Connor Zilisch serves as a development driver, indicating the team’s strategic focus on growth.
As Suarez approaches upcoming races, including the crucial event in Atlanta, he remains focused. "I’m happy and I’m comfortable where I am. I definitely want more. I want to win races," he affirmed, underscoring his confidence in his team’s capabilities. The coming weeks will be critical for both Suarez and Trackhouse Racing as they seek to secure a strong position heading into the postseason.
