Daniel Suarez Set for Historic NASCAR Doubleheader in Mexico
Daniel Suarez is poised to make a significant impact in his home country as he prepares to compete in both NASCAR races at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez next month. Trackhouse Racing, in collaboration with JR Motorsports, announced that Suarez will pilot the No. 9 Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series on June 14, complementing his regular role in Trackhouse’s No. 99 Cup Car.
This year marks the return of the Xfinity Series to Mexico City for the first time since 2008, and it also signals the inaugural Cup Series event at this venue. Quaker State will serve as the primary sponsor for Suarez’s Xfinity entry.
Suarez expressed his excitement: “Having the opportunity to compete in the Xfinity Series race makes the weekend in Mexico City even better. I have dreamed about racing in my home country every day since I left Mexico to chase my NASCAR dream in 2011."
A former Xfinity Series champion (2016), Suarez has made 20 starts in the Cup Series since moving full time in 2017, with his most recent races occurring at Daytona and Chicago in 2024.
In addition to competing, Suarez emphasized the significance of the weekend: “I think everyone is going to be amazed by the reception in Mexico… NASCAR is a very important sport for Mexico, and it continues to grow with the NASCAR Mexico Series and now the Cup and Xfinity Series going there. It’s going to be a big deal.”
