Will Brown to Compete at Chicago Street Course for Kaulig Racing
Will Brown, the reigning Australian Supercars Series champion, will make his return to NASCAR at the upcoming Grant Park 165 on July 6, 2023. Brown, who boasts eleven career wins and was third in last year’s Bathurst 1000, will pilot the No. 13 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, backed by MobileX.
Brown made his Cup debut last year, finishing 31st after starting 24th at Sonoma. His addition to Kaulig Racing comes amid a growing trend of Supercars talent in NASCAR, following Shane van Gisbergen’s debut victory at the Chicago Street Course last season.
“I’ve been really keen to have a go at the Grant Park 165,” said Brown, who replaced van Gisbergen at Red Bull Ampol Racing after his move to NASCAR. Brown expressed excitement about racing alongside teammates AJ Allmendinger and Ty Dillon. Kaulig Racing owner Matt Kaulig added, “This is an amazing opportunity for us to compete for a win in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar.”
Brown aims to become the first Australian driver to win at the Cup level since fellow Supercars champion in 2012, distinct from van Gisbergen, who hails from New Zealand. This event will be a significant test for Brown as he seeks to solidify his position in the competitive NASCAR landscape.
