Power, Penske’s most consistent driver over the last 18 months, is the only Penske representative to secure a championship this decade. However, with Jonathan Diuguid stepping in as the new team captain, changes are essential. "The last thing Penske needs is a big driver change while trying to turn the ship," Pruett stated. Malukas, despite his talent, requires more track experience before he can contend for titles. "He’s made more mistakes than expected from a Penske-ready driver," Pruett remarked, advocating for Malukas to spend another season at Foyt to develop further before a potential move to Penske.
Penske’s collaboration with Malukas’ current team, supported by Penske’s sponsor Clarience Technologies, is expected to continue, alleviating the need for Power to shift to Foyt. Observers note that switching Power out could undermine the team’s foundational consistency.
