Toyota Gazoo Racing Eyes Milestone 200th Victory at World Wide Technology Raceway

As Toyota Gazoo Racing approaches the NASCAR Cup Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis, the team is poised to celebrate a significant milestone: its 200th victory in the series. Chase Briscoe achieved the 199th win for Toyota at Darlington Raceway during the Southern 500, the opening race of the Cup Series playoffs, securing a place for himself and the Joe Gibbs Racing team in the postseason’s second round.

“It would be super-special,” remarked Briscoe about the opportunity to claim the historic 200th win. He noted the significance of approaching such a milestone in just a short time since Toyota’s entry into NASCAR.

Toyota’s journey began in 2007, but its trajectory shifted dramatically with the 2008 partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing, which has accounted for 165 of the manufacturer’s total wins. Kyle Busch, who delivered the first victory for Toyota at Atlanta in 2008 and the 100th win at Pocono in 2017, remains the manufacturer’s leading driver with 56 victories despite his recent move to Richard Childress Racing.

Denny Hamlin, with 55 wins for Toyota, reflected on his involvement in significant milestones, stating, “Milestone wins like that are special because you always have the souvenirs and the hats that remind you of that day.”

This season, Toyota has already achieved 10 wins across multiple drivers, including Briscoe, Hamlin, Christopher Bell, and Bubba Wallace. Bell expressed his desire to contribute to the 200th win, recalling his own historic achievements with the brand.

Toyota Driver Victories:

  1. Kyle Busch: 56
  2. Denny Hamlin: 55
  3. Martin Truex Jr.: 32
  4. Matt Kenseth: 15

  6. Others.

  2. Furniture Row Racing: 16
  3. 23XI Racing: 9

As the race unfolds on Sunday, nine Toyota drivers will compete, each hoping to secure the landmark victory that will mark a new chapter in Toyota’s NASCAR history.
