Motorsports Report: Charter Agreements Resolved for Legacy Motor Club and Rick Ware Racing

In a pivotal development for the 2026 NASCAR season, Legacy Motor Club (LMC) and Rick Ware Racing (RWR) have finalized a charter sale that ends a contentious dispute. LMC will acquire three charters, while RWR retains one, ensuring stability in their respective operations.

Currently, RWR holds two charters, utilizing one for the No. 51 entry driven by Cody Ware; the second charter is leased to RFK Racing. LMC, which competes with the No. 42 and No. 43 cars driven by John Hunter Nemechek and Erik Jones respectively, aims to bolster its program by acquiring a third charter.

Moving forward into 2026, RWR has confirmed that the No. 51 entry will continue as a chartered team. A spokesperson stated, “RWR will continue to race its No. 51 as a chartered entry in 2026.” Meanwhile, LMC will own a third charter that is expected to be designated for RFK Racing’s No. 60 entry, driven by Ryan Preece. Both organizations have agreed to honor existing charter agreements, with RFK Racing confirming, “Driver and partner agreements are in place for the [No.] 60 team.”

Looking towards 2027, LMC is focused on fielding three full-time entries after previously expressing intentions to do so for 2026. However, logistical and resource constraints may delay this expansion. RFK Racing is also positioned to secure another charter by 2027 following the conclusion of its agreements with RWR and LMC.

This resolution not only stabilizes the current landscape for both teams but also sets the stage for future developments as they navigate the evolving motorsports environment.
