DTM Confirms 21-Car Field for 2026 Season
The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) has unveiled a competitive 21-car grid for the 2026 season, comprising 11 teams and eight manufacturers. The field has shrunk by three cars from the previous season, attributed to the withdrawal of third entries from Manthey and Emil Frey Racing, alongside the exit of Paul Motorsport from the championship.
Reigning drivers’ champion Ayhancan Güven will not return, leading Manthey to concentrate on 2023 champion Thomas Preining and Ricardo Feller. A lone entry from Land-Motorsport will introduce rookie Bastian Buus in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992.2).
Lamborghini leads the pack with four new Temerario GT3s, entered by Red Bull Team ABT (Luca Engstler and Marco Mapelli) and TGI Team by GRT (Mirko Bortolotti and Maximilian Paul). Mercedes-AMG matches this with four cars, featuring an unchanged lineup: Lucas Auer and Tom Kalender for Team Landgraf, while Maro Engel and Jules Gounon represent Winward Racing.
Notable transfers include Nicki Thiim’s move to Aston Martin with Comtoyou Racing. He will partner with Nicolas Baert. HRT Ford Racing will debut the Mustang GT3 Evo, fielding Arjun Maini and rookie Finn Wiebelhaus.
Kelvin van der Linde returns to DTM, joining two-time champion Marco Wittmann at Schubert Motorsport. The lineup is rounded out by Emil Frey Racing’s Ferrari 296 GT3 Evos, driven by Thierry Vermeulen and rookie Matteo Cairoli, alongside Dörr Motorsport’s McLaren GT3 Evos featuring Timo Glock and Ben Dörr.
ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss noted, “The quality in the field is immense, with drivers from eleven countries showcasing the series’ international relevance. We look forward to the exciting debut of Road to DTM winner Finn Wiebelhaus.”
The 2026 DTM season kicks off at the Red Bull Ring in Austria from April 24 to 26.
