2026 British GT Championship Entry Revealed Ahead of Season Opener
Silverstone, UK – The 2026 British GT Championship is gearing up for a competitive season, with the provisional full-season entry list officially released prior to today’s Media Day. A total of 26 cars will contest the championship, comprising 15 entries in the GT3 category and 11 in GT4.
While the grid is slightly reduced from last year’s 27 cars, this shift follows a transition to a compact eight-race, six-round calendar while emphasizing a stronger commitment to enhancing the GT4 field. Unlike 2025, this entry list exclusively features full-season cars, sidelining the GT4 Endurance Cup rounds to focus on sustainability amidst current economic challenges.
In GT3, the distribution includes eight Pro-Am entries and seven in the Silver-Am category. McLaren leads the manufacturer count with seven GT3 Evos fielded by four teams: Optimum Motorsport, Paddock Motorsport, Orange Racing by JMH, and Mahiki Racing. Other notable manufacturers include Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG, and Lamborghini, with Barwell Motorsport notably fielding three Huracan GT3 Evo2s for the season.
Two GT3 entries were confirmed just before the Media Day: Ed McDermott, the reigning GT4 Endurance Cup champion, will share the Mahiki #71 McLaren with Luke Garlick, while Ian Duggan composes the lineup for Toro Verde’s Porsche alongside Tom Bradshaw.
GT4 competitors showcase a robust array of brands, such as Aston Martin, BMW, Ginetta, McLaren, and Porsche. This year’s lineup includes six Pro-Am and five Silver entries. The arrival of teams like Grange Racing with FSR and GBR Stratton marks a significant infusion of fresh talent.
A highlight in GT4 is Toro Verde GT’s new Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo, piloted by reigning Ginetta GT Championship Am winner Luke Shaw and 2018 GT4 champion Jack Mitchell. SRO Motorsports Group has indicated that additional entries could still emerge before the Silverstone 500, with two guest entries already confirmed for the event.
Today’s Media Day at Silverstone features extensive testing and fan engagement, with approximately 3,000 free tickets claimed in advance. The proceedings also showcase Ginetta’s UK series under SRO management, expanding the racing action to over 75 entries, complemented by anticipated grids from GB3 and GB4.
The British GT season will commence with the highly anticipated three-hour Silverstone 500 next month, promising a thrilling start to the championship.
