International GT Open: Title Battles Heat Up Ahead of Final Rounds
As the 2025 International GT Open season approaches its climax, the competition intensifies ahead of the final three rounds at Red Bull Ring, Barcelona, and Monza. A robust field of 34 cars will compete in the pivotal fifth round at the picturesque 4,318-km Red Bull Ring in Austria.
PRO Class Highlights
The fight for the overall championship narrows as Levente Révesz leads the standings with 148 points, closely pursued by reigning champions Simon Reicher and Christopher Haase, who trail by just seven points. Révesz will race the Team Motopark Mercedes AMG alongside Max Götz, while Reicher and Haase aim for a strong performance in their Audi R8 LMS.
“In a title race this close, every point counts,” commented Révesz.
Young contenders are also in the mix, with Tom Lebbon and Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport Ferrari 296) accumulating 79 points, closely followed by Zach Meakin and Michael Porter (Optimum Motorsport McLaren) with 76, and Carl Bennett and Tommaso Mosca (AF Corse Ferrari) with 72 points.
The Pro class remains competitive, with all 12 entries capable of clinching victory. Noteworthy entries include GetSpeed’s Mercedes duo, Anthony Bartone-Fabian Schiller and Marcelo Ramírez-Ralf Aron, adding depth to the grid.
PRO-AM and AM Classes
In the Pro-Am category, Steve Jans and Aaron Walker lead with 65 points and three wins, closely chased by Valentin-Pierburg and Dominik Baumann, who have 62 points. The ISR Racing Audi R8 LMS, driven by Filip Salaquarda and Libor Milota, stands strong in third place, showcasing the diversity and talent within the field.
The Am class features a compelling rivalry between Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo (AF Corse Ferrari 296) and Mark Sansom, paired with Alexander West in the Garage 59 McLaren 720S. Forgione and Rugolo hold a narrow six-point advantage amidst fierce competition.
Additional Entries and Development
The entry list is bolstered by new additions such as Poulsen Motorsport’s BMW M4, driven by Kristian Poulsen and BMW M factory driver Jens Klingmann. Additionally, Track Focused will debut a McLaren 720S, further enriching the competition landscape.
