Silverstone Festival: MRL GT3 Legends Showcase Prominent Racing Heritage
The Silverstone Festival is set to host the MRL (Motor Racing Legends) GT3 Legends series, featuring an impressive 37-car grid representing a diverse range of GT3 marques from its inaugural decade. This weekend’s event will highlight 10 different brands and 13 unique models, emphasizing the evolution of GT3 machinery.
Among the notable drivers participating are Rob Huff in a 2012 BMW Z4 GT3, Andrew Jordan piloting a Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06R, and Graham Davidson, the 2019 British GT Champion, in his Aston Martin V12 Vantage of the same year. Other prominent figures include Alex Brundle and Max Lynn in a Nissan GT-R GT3, as well as former FIA WEC participants Johnny Mowlem and Bonamy Grimes, who will drive a Ferrari 458 GT3.
The pre-event test session held on Wednesday saw most of the grid on track, allowing teams to fine-tune their setups. Among the entries, Simon Watts showcased a 2015-spec Nissan from Super Taikyu, while a rare Lambda Performance-built Ford GT GT3 added an intriguing twist to the lineup.
Series founder Shaun Lynn took to the track in his ex-TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, underscoring the event’s focus on historical motorsport authenticity.
The series will be part of a broader Silverstone Festival program, which includes Masters Endurance Legends and Group C races. Fans can follow the action through a live stream available on YouTube.
