Vincent Abril Announces Retirement from Professional Motorsport

Monegasque driver Vincent Abril has confirmed his retirement from professional motorsport ahead of the 2026 season. The 31-year-old concluded a successful career in the GT World Challenge Europe, where he raced for AF Corse in 2022, securing a notable victory at Brands Hatch and a podium finish at the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa.

Abril’s career highlights include a remarkable four-year stint with Bentley from 2015 to 2018, during which he clinched the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at just 20 years old. Following that, he spent three seasons with Mercedes-AMG, achieving multiple race wins and making his DTM debut.

His tenure with AF Corse since 2020 has been marked by significant achievements, including setting LMGTE Am pole position at the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans and competing successfully in the International GT Open. Despite stepping back from professional racing, Abril intends to remain active in Pro/Am competitions.

In a social media announcement, Abril stated, “I have decided to step away from professional motorsport… These last years have opened parallel opportunities and made me enjoy and expand for my future life goals.” He expressed gratitude for his experiences, emphasizing the importance of the relationships formed throughout his career.

Abril’s decision underscores a shift towards personal fulfillment while retaining a connection to motorsport through amateur racing. His legacy, marked by significant wins and championships, will be remembered by fans and competitors alike.
