AO Racing Retains LMP2 Lineup for 2026 IMSA Season

Daytona Beach, FL – AO Racing has confirmed its unchanged LMP2 lineup for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as it aims to defend its titles from 2025. Reigning champions PJ Hyett and Dane Cameron will once again pilot the #99 ORECA 07-Gibson, nicknamed “Spike the Dragon,” across all seven LMP2 races.

Returning as the designated Silver-rated driver for the five-race Michelin Endurance Cup is Jonny Edgar, following a successful appeal regarding his 2026 FIA Driver Categorisation. Additionally, Christian Rasmussen will participate in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, seeking his second LMP2 class win in three years.

Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette emphasized the decision to maintain the current roster, stating, “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Our LMP2 crew and Spike had such a great 2025 season that we want to do the same thing for 2026.”

The 2025 season was notable for Hyett and Cameron, who secured their first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, followed by consecutive IMSA wins at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America. Hyett notably achieved three consecutive pole positions at Watkins Glen, CTMP, and Road America—the most for any LMP2 Bronze driver that season.

Reflecting on the upcoming season, Hyett remarked, “Winning the LMP2 championship in 2025 was a dream come true, but we have unfinished business. The top step at all of IMSA’s endurance races have yet to be reached for our crew, and 2026 sounds like the right year to do it.”

Cameron, who has earned five IMSA championships across various classes, echoed similar sentiments: “I’m super excited to be back with AO Racing to defend our championship. It will be hard to top 2025, but I feel we were getting stronger as a group as the year went on.”

The 2026 campaign kicks off with a Daytona test in November, a critical precursor to the season’s opening race.
