AO Racing Unveils Gold Livery for Rolex 24 At Daytona

Daytona Beach, FL — AO Racing has announced a striking gold livery for its #99 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2, known as “Spike the Dragon,” ahead of the 64th Rolex 24 At Daytona. This updated design marks a thematic evolution from last year’s purple scales, reflecting Spike’s championship status in the IMSA WeatherTech and European Le Mans Series.

“While Spike the Dragon rested in his lair, he molted and his purple scales were shed. This month, the champion returns to Daytona International Speedway, reborn in gold,” the team shared in a statement.

The gold livery is a tribute to the car’s performance, which included a memorable run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where it earned a gold tail in LMP2 Pro/Am. Additionally, AO Racing’s #77 Porsche 911 GT3 R, “Rexy,” features a gold-diamond fang in honor of its GTD PRO championship.

Spike’s return to Daytona comes after a challenging 2025 Rolex 24, where the team, consisting of drivers PJ Hyett, Dane Cameron, Jonny Edgar, and Christian Rasmussen, led the race before a battery issue derailed their victory with less than 90 minutes to go. The quartet is determined to capitalize on their prior experience to secure a win this year.

Hyett and Cameron emerged victorious in back-to-back IMSA races last summer at CTMP and Road America, leading them to their first IMSA LMP2 championships, and they will look to carry that momentum into this year’s race.

AO Racing’s unveiling of the new livery signifies their resolve to contend for top honors in one of motorsport’s most demanding endurance events.
