2025 FIA WEC Season Concludes with Awards Ceremony in Bahrain

The 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) culminated last night in an awards ceremony held on the beach adjacent to the Sofitel Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. The event marked a celebratory close to the season, recognizing the achievements of teams and drivers across the championship.

Champions Recognized
Ferrari AF Corse’s trio of James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Alessandro Pier Guidi were celebrated as the championship-winning drivers, accompanied by Manthey 1st Phorm’s Ryan Hardwick, Riccardo Pera, and Richard Lietz. The awards were presented during a ceremony led by WEC TV hosts Anthony Davidson, Bruce Jouanny, and WEC’s Alexa Rendell.

Giovinazzi was notably absent due to the birth of his daughter, prompting a round of applause from attendees as Calado acknowledged his teammate’s milestone.

Manufacturer Awards
Representatives from Ferrari, Toyota, and Porsche—Antonello Coletta, Kamui Kobayashi, and Thomas Laudenbach, respectively—received accolades for their contributions in the Hypercar class.

Special Awards
Several notable awards were presented, including the Revelation of the Year to Eduardo Barrichello of Racing Spirit of Leman for outstanding performance as a rookie. Tom Ferrier of TF Sport earned the Personality of the Year award for his impactful leadership within his team.

Ahmad Al Harthy claimed the Sports Racer of the Year award, recognizing his excellence as a Bronze-graded driver. Alessio Rovera from Vista AF Corse was honored with the Goodyear Wingfoot Award, solidifying his consistent performance in the LMGT3 category.

Sustainability Efforts Recognized
DHL’s Sustainability Awards were presented to AF Corse and Heart of Racing, acknowledging their commitment to environmental stewardship within the sport.

Farewells and New Recognitions
The evening also served as a farewell to 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button, who concluded his racing career with Hertz Team JOTA. Button took to the stage to reflect on his journey.

Additionally, the Excellence Award was bestowed upon Andrew “Skippy” Hall for his dedication to motorsport photography despite facing significant personal challenges. Hall’s presence within the paddock will be deeply missed in the upcoming season.
