Barwell Motorsport Withdraws from GT World Challenge Europe, Shifts Focus to Domestic Series

Barwell Motorsport has officially announced its withdrawal from the GT World Challenge Europe for the 2026 season, marking the end of a 15-year era in contemporary international racing for the British team. The decision comes as Lamborghini prepares to launch its new Temerario GT3, with Barwell opting to concentrate on the British series where it has claimed seven titles.

Last season, Barwell fielded two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2s in the Sprint Cup and one in the Endurance Cup. For 2026, the team will enter three Huracán GT3 Evo2s in the domestic championship, aiming to reclaim their former glory.

In addition to its domestic aspirations, Barwell Motorsport will establish its GT3 Heritage division and compete in both the MRL GT3 Legends and the SRO-backed Peter Auto GT3 Revival Series, with plans for a three-car entry at July’s Le Mans Classic. Furthermore, the team is evaluating the potential for involvement in a Middle Eastern program next winter.

Looking ahead, the 2026 season is expected to be Barwell’s last with the Huracán GT3 Evo2, as the team prepares for a likely transition to the Temerario GT3 in 2027. The new model is currently in limited rollout, with Pfaff Motorsports and Rutronik Racing identified as the initial customers.

As of now, no drivers have been confirmed for Barwell’s 2026 initiatives.
