Barwell Motorsport Launches New GT3 Heritage Programme
Barwell Motorsport has officially unveiled its GT3 Heritage programme, set to complement its commitment in the British GT Championship for the 2026 season. The programme will field vehicles from the early 2010s, participating in both the GT3 Legends and the new GT3 Revival Series.
Key Vehicles and Driver Line-Up
Barwell will campaign its 2014 British GT title-winning BMW Z4 GT3 at three pivotal events: the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Mans Classic, and Donington Park. Peter Mousdale will pilot the car across all venues, joined by Matt Topham and Liam Griffin at Paul Ricard and Donington, respectively.
In addition, the team has acquired a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560 FL2, previously run by Rhino Team Leipert in ADAC GT Masters. Barwell’s regular drivers, Adam Balon and Phil Keen, will race the Gallardo, aiming to replicate their success from the 2020 British GT Championship, where they finished third overall.
Both cars will participate in the Revival Series, with the Gallardo also competing at the upcoming round in Barcelona. Furthermore, Barwell is exploring entry into the GT3 Legends event at Silverstone.
Barwell is also in the process of restoring an Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3, which may see track action later this season. This chassis is noted as one of the last R8 LMS Ultras built and has a history of championship success in the New Zealand GT3 series.
Team Insights
Team Principal Mark Lemmer expressed enthusiasm for the programme’s launch, stating: “We’re delighted to get the ball rolling for our GT3 Heritage department… A huge amount of work has gone into establishing the GT3 Heritage department, and everybody is raring to get going.”
He highlighted the familiarity with the BMW Z4, calling it a car they “know inside-out,” and emphasized the strong driver pairing formulated for the Gallardo: “It will be nice to turn the clock back and go for some glory in the Gallardo.”
The first event for the GT3 Heritage programme is scheduled for April 10-12, 2026, during the GT3 Revival Series season opener at Circuit Paul Ricard.
For further updates on the GT3 Heritage programme, Barwell Motorsport is expected to expand its schedule as the season progresses.
