Martin Berry Joins Iron Lynx for FIA WEC Campaign
Australian driver Martin Berry will fill the third seat in Iron Lynx’s #61 AMG LMGT3 entry for most of the remaining FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) races this season. Berry succeeds Christian Ried, co-owner of Proton Competition, who had temporarily stepped in during the Qatar and Imola races.
Berry, 47, is set to make his FIA WEC debut at the upcoming 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on May 6, 2023, and will also compete in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours next month. His schedule further includes races at Circuit of The Americas (CoTA), Fuji, and Bahrain. Notably, he will miss the 6 Hours of São Paulo in July due to a prior commitment, with Ried expected to return for that event.
This opportunity adds to Berry’s participation in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), where he recently secured pole position at the season opener in Barcelona.
Berry expressed his enthusiasm for joining Iron Lynx, stating, "It’s a dream come true for me… I feel really good in the car and the team feels like a family." He also acknowledged his son’s burgeoning motorsport career, remarking, "The big dream is to maybe do Le Mans together one day."
As Berry prepares for his debut, Iron Lynx aims to strengthen its competitive stance in the WEC following a challenging off-season.
