BMW M Motorsport Unveils New M2 Racing Car Ahead of 2026 Season

Oschersleben, Germany – In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in customer racing, BMW M Motorsport has introduced the new BMW M2 Racing, set for market launch at the 2026 season opener. The unveiling coincided with the DTM season start at Oschersleben, signaling BMW’s commitment to providing entry-level competitors with high-performance options.

The M2 Racing, based on the current M2 chassis, features advanced racing components that enhance its performance and durability. Delivering 230 kW (313 hp) and achieving speeds exceeding 270 km/h, it is priced at €98,000 (net) in the EU, making it accessible for grassroots motorsport participation.

“By introducing the BMW M2 Racing, we continue a proud tradition,” stated Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. He emphasized the vehicle’s blend of affordability, performance, and reliability, which aligns with BMW M Motorsport’s goal of producing cars that are easy to maintain and thrilling to drive for racing teams.

Head of Customer Racing Björn Lellmann highlighted the model’s intuitive handling and low operating costs, achieved through close collaboration with series production experts. “The BMW M2 Racing combines driving pleasure with efficiency, making it particularly attractive for entry-level racers,” he remarked.

Notable testing for the M2 Racing has included participation from BMW M works driver Jens Klingmann, who affirmed the car’s suitability for both novices and competitive racers.

The BMW M2 Racing is eligible for various national and international sprint series, including prestigious endurance events such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, positioning it as a solid choice for both seasoned professionals and newcomers to motorsport.
