Hyperpole Report: 2025 6 Hours of Fuji
Fuji, Japan – Cadillac’s #12 entry, driven by Alex Lynn, secured pole position for the 2025 6 Hours of Fuji during today’s Hyperpole session, outpacing the field with a stunning time of 1:28.236. This performance marks Cadillac’s third pole of the season, affirming their dominance in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar category.
Lynn’s impressive lap placed him over four-tenths ahead of teammate Earl Bamber, who clocked a solid 1:28.675 in the sister #38 V-Series.R, clinching a front-row lockout for Cadillac. “The car was amazing, and we did the job. We’re in a great position for the race,” said Lynn.
In the battle for the second row, Marco Sørensen drove the #009 Aston Martin to a competitive 1:28.705, putting the Thor Team Valkyrie third. Mikkel Jensen in the #93 Peugeot, finishing with a time of 1:28.7, will share the second row, further highlighting the tight competition.
The third row features the #20 BMW and championship leaders, the #51 AF Corse Ferrari, with Antonio Giovinazzi posting a 1:28.945. Both Cadillac and Ferrari were the only teams to place two cars in the Hyperpole shootout, reflecting a tightly contested qualifying session where the top 12 were separated by less than half a second.
Notable absences from Hyperpole included the #007 Aston Martin, which struggled after a lock-up by Harry Tincknell left them 11th, and the #94 Peugeot, which narrowly missed out in 12th due to Stoffel Vandoorne’s performance.
In the LMGT3 category, Racing Spirit of Leman claimed pole for the second time this season with Eduardo Barrichello achieving a 1:39.981. United Autosports put two McLarens in contention, with Sean Gelael’s #95 taking second and Sebastien Baud’s #59 just behind.
The race is set to commence tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. local time, where all eyes will be on the Cadillac team to see if they can convert their pole position into a victory at Fuji.
