Christoph Huber Steps Down as Operational Head of Huber Racing
In a significant leadership change, Christoph Huber has stepped down from the operational side of Huber Racing after a decade of guiding the team. This decision takes effect immediately, marking the end of his tenure that began in March 2016.
Under Huber’s stewardship, Huber Racing evolved from a single-make Porsche operation to a competitive outfit in GT Racing, becoming the most successful team in the German Porsche Cup over the past ten years. Huber noted the decision was made due to personal health considerations and a desire to focus on his well-being. “I am no longer able to perform my duties as managing director to the standard I expect,” he explained. Huber expressed gratitude towards the countless individuals who supported the team throughout his journey, declaring, “Once a racer, always a racer.”
Christian Ried, majority owner of Proton Competition, praised Huber’s dedication and leadership, stating, “His commitment has had a significant impact on the company.” Ried emphasized that the team is poised to continue its competitive efforts in the ongoing championships, as they approach the season finale.
Currently, Proton Huber Competition is competing in multiple categories, including the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland and is leading the Michelin 24H Series European Series. The team is also in contention for titles in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse, underscoring their strong performance this season.
Moreover, in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, the team has successfully operated the Iron Dames Porsche 911 GT3R, showcasing impressive pace from drivers Marta Garcia and Vanina Ickx.
As Huber departs operational responsibilities, he remains committed to supporting the team, signaling a new chapter for both himself and Huber Racing.
