Colin Queen Wins Lamborghini Super Trofeo Young Driver Programme Shootout

American driver Colin Queen has secured victory in the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Super Trofeo Young Driver Programme Shootout, earning factory backing for the 2026 season in the IMSA-sanctioned Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series.

Queen, who has a congenital heart defect and underwent multiple surgeries in early childhood, has made significant strides in motorsports, making him the first professional racer with this condition. His background includes extensive karting and four years in British single-seater racing, where he advanced through the ranks in Formula Ford, GB4 Championship, and GB3 Championship before returning to the U.S. for sports car racing.

During his rookie season in the Super Trofeo North America Pro category, Queen achieved two podium finishes while racing for ANSA Motorsports—one at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and another at the Lamborghini World Final in Misano, Italy, culminating in a fifth-place finish in the overall season standings.

Following the World Final, Queen was selected as one of 16 drivers for the Young Driver Shootout, assessed on driving proficiency and technical feedback. Competing alongside prominent names, including co-driver Enzo Geraci, Queen emerged as the winner.

“My first season in Lamborghini Super Trofeo and GT racing has been an incredible experience,” said Queen. “Being named the winner of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Young Driver Programme makes it even more meaningful. I’m focused on what’s ahead and I’m highly motivated to showcase both my sporting and technical capabilities. I can’t wait to see what’s coming with Lamborghini’s new Temerario.”

Rouven Mohr, Interim Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini, commended the programme for cultivating talent. “The YDP has provided many drivers with a platform to build their professional careers, and we are proud to continue developing drivers of the future through our assessments and shootouts.”

The 2026 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season kicks off in conjunction with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring weekend, featuring the first rounds on March 19-20.
