Barwell Motorsport Dominates at Oulton Park

Oulton Park, UK – Barwell Motorsport secured its ninth win in the British GT Championship today, with Hugo Cook expertly defending against 2 Seas Motorsport’s Maximilian Götz in a tightly contested first race. The #1 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo2, piloted by reigning GT3 Drivers’ Champion Rob Collard and Cook, started from pole and maintained its lead amidst intense pressure.

Cook’s victory was marked by his solid defense against Götz, who started fourth. "It was just counting down the laps," Cook remarked. He acknowledged the challenge ahead, preparing for a 10-second pit stop penalty in Race 2.

Götz, who noted the difficulty of overtaking at Oulton Park, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to improve their starting position in the next race, stating, “We’ll need some good qualifying laps to get the gap because of this penalty we have now.”

The race commenced with Collard fending off early challenges from Giacomo Petrobelli in the #7 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo. A closely fought contest saw the top three covered by less than a second leading into the pit stops. However, 2 Seas Motorsport leveraged a strong pit strategy, with Götz climbing through the ranks.

Following a full-course yellow and safety car period due to a GT4 incident, Cook faced the task of managing his lead while navigating the traffic. Jonny Adam delivered a commendable performance, culminating in a third-place finish for the Blackthorn Aston Martin, breaking the previous fastest lap record set by Jules Gounon.

The final top positions were rounded out by Sam Neary’s Team Abba Racing Mercedes in fourth, while Barwell’s Sandy Mitchell and Alex Martin secured fifth. Team Parker Racing’s Sven Müller finished sixth following a remarkable recovery from the back row.

GT4 Results: Brown Clinches Victory

In the GT4 class, reigning champion Jack Brown, alongside Marc Warren in the #90 Optimum Motorsport McLaren Artura GT4, triumphed after a competitive race. The battle for the lead featured a fierce contest with Ravi Ramyead in the #71 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 Evo, until Ramyead’s collision with barriers ended his hopes.

Meanwhile, Mahiki Racing achieved its first podium of the season with Steven Lake and Jack Mitchell finishing second. Lake credited his teammate’s pace, remarking, “It was good fun,” despite other incidents affecting their team’s performance.

Century’s #14 BMW, driven by Chris Salked and Branden Templeton, clinched third place, demonstrating resilience amidst the challenges.
