Prototype Cup Germany Rebrands as Prototype Cup Europe for 2026
Creventic has announced the transformation of the Prototype Cup Germany into the Prototype Cup Europe for 2026. Established in 2022 in collaboration with ADAC, the series faced declining participation last season, with grids shrinking to as few as eight cars, prompting a strategic overhaul.
The new format preserves the existing structure of two 55-minute races, each with a mandatory pit stop, and maintains partnerships with the ACO and Michelin. Notably, the champion of the Prototype Cup Europe will secure a reserved entry for the 2027 Michelin Le Mans Cup.
The series will shift to the Toyota V6-powered third-generation LMP3 cars, which debuted successfully in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and European Le Mans Series last season. Driver classifications remain the same; Bronze and Silver-graded participants may race solo or as pairs, while Gold-rated drivers must team with a Bronze driver.
The inaugural round of Prototype Cup Europe will take place at Mugello from March 20-22, 2026, as part of the 24H Series Europe support event. Additional rounds are scheduled for the Nürburgring, Monza, and Spa-Francorchamps.
Orry Lichtenberg, series coordinator, commented, “We look back at four successful years with ADAC and now continue the series with the latest generation LMP3. Together with our longstanding partners ACO and Michelin, we aim to provide an additional program to the teams that already compete in the well-known LMP3 series.”
2026 Prototype Cup Europe Calendar:
- R1: Mugello, Italy (24H Series), March 20-22
- R2: Nürburgring, Germany (24H Series), July 3-5
- R3: Monza, Italy (Eurocup-3), July 31 – August 2
- R4: Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium (992 Endurance Cup), September 3-4
Creventic aims to reinvigorate the series with this new direction, fostering a more competitive and international environment for LMP3 teams.
