Acura Unveils Updated ARX-06 Prototype at Daytona
Daytona International Speedway – Acura has introduced the updated ARX-06 prototype for the 2026 racing season during a sanctioned test at Daytona. This iteration features minor aerodynamic modifications aimed at improving performance in competitive conditions.
Key Modifications
HRC President David Salters detailed that the primary updates include revised aerodynamic elements at both the front and rear of the vehicle. Notable changes include reinforced components referred to as “cheese wedges” to prevent them from detaching during races. Salters emphasized, “We probably don’t want them knocked off anymore!” indicating a focused effort on durability.
Driver Feedback and Performance Analysis
Despite the adjustments not being significant, the Acura Meyer Shank Racing team has expressed satisfaction with the car’s performance. Salters stated, “The general balance of the car is okay. I don’t believe we’ve got any big issues to address.” No fundamental changes to suspension geometry or other critical systems have been identified, suggesting a solid baseline ahead of the season.
Livery Updates
Both ARX-06 vehicles have also undergone aesthetic revisions, with the #60 model now featuring a predominantly black and blue design, while the #93 showcases a grey and red scheme. This brings a new visual identity as the team heads into competitive events.
As the season approaches, the ARX-06 appears poised to leverage its updated design and proven performance, aiming for continued success on the track.
