WRT and BMW Triumph at Dubai 24 Hours: Results and Insights
Dubai, UAE – Team WRT, in partnership with BMW, claimed victory at the Dubai 24 Hours, successfully defending their title with a commanding performance. The Belgian team’s #669 M4 GT3 Evo, driven by Kelvin van der Linde, Anthony McIntosh, Jordan Pepper, Fran Rueda, and Ben Tuck, secured first place after leading solidly since the 11th hour.
A pivotal Code 60 intervention during GT3 pit stops allowed the #669 to leap from third to first. Strong overnight stints from Tuck and Rueda ensured the lead was maintained, culminating in a comfortable finish with the car one lap ahead of their sister entry, the #27 M4 driven by Christopher Haase and his team.
“The timing was perfect; I wanted to win this race,” van der Linde commented post-race. Pepper noted the strategic fuel-saving measures taken at the end: “It was risky, but it was fun getting a target and trying to nail it.”
WRT’s victory marks their fourth in the last five years at this event, tying them with Black Falcon for the most wins in Dubai 24 Hours history. Similarly, BMW’s sixth overall victory now puts them level with Porsche as the most successful manufacturer in the race.
Winward Racing’s #16 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo completed the podium, finishing four laps down after a dramatic finale for Paradine Competition’s #992 BMW, which suffered a puncture and subsequent brake failure that sidelined them with just 30 minutes remaining.
Paradine’s #991 entry, which once held the lead, ultimately finished fourth. Herberth Motorsport secured GT3-Pro/Am honors with their #10 Porsche, finishing fifth, making it the only non-BMW to lead on pace during the race.
In GT4, Cerny Motorsport won decisively, leading by 64 laps with their #445 M4 GT4. In the TCE categories, Best Racing bagged the win in TCE-TCX, while KCMG triumphed in TC with their Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo ‘B-spec’.
