Former F1 Driver Jack Doohan Joins Nielsen Racing for ELMS Debut
LONDON — Jack Doohan, a former Formula 1 driver, is set to make his sportscar racing debut with Nielsen Racing in the 2026 European Le Mans Series (ELMS). The 23-year-old Australian will partner with Roy Nissany and rookie Edward Pearson in the #24 ORECA 07-Gibson, competing in the LMP2 category.
Doohan transitions to endurance racing following a challenging stint in F1, where he was dropped by the Alpine F1 Team after just seven races. In addition to his ELMS commitments, he will serve as the reserve driver for Haas F1 Team.
“Our lineup in the #24 entry has changed completely since last year, but I’m excited about our potential,” Doohan remarked. “I’m confident we’ll get up to speed quickly with such a strong team around me. The ORECA 07 presents a new challenge, and I can’t wait to get started.”
The 2026 ELMS kicks off at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from April 10-12. Nielsen Racing will also field a second entry, the #27 ORECA, in the LMP2 Pro/Am category, featuring drivers James Allen, Kriton Lentoudis, and Alex Quinn.
Key Details:
- Driver Lineup: #24 ORECA 07 GIBSON – Jack Doohan, Roy Nissany, Edward Pearson.
- Team Performance: Nielsen’s #24 entry finished fifth in the previous LMP2 teams’ championship.
- Series Start Date: April 10-12, 2026, at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Doohan expressed enthusiasm about the transition: “It will be a massive experience gain for wherever my career goes from here.”
This new chapter in Doohan’s career signals a strategic move as he aims to leverage both sportscar and potential F1 opportunities moving forward.
