Cadillac’s Felipe Drugovich Stays Focused Ahead of Le Mans Amid F1 Speculation

LE MANS, France – Amid rising speculation regarding his potential short-notice call-up to the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, Felipe Drugovich remains committed to his duties with Cadillac in the upcoming Le Mans 24 Hours. The Action Express Racing driver has been identified as the primary reserve for Aston Martin, should Lance Stroll fail to recover in time from his recent wrist surgery.

At a recent scrutineering session in Le Mans, Drugovich confirmed his focus on the endurance race, stating, "I just think I am doing the best race weekend of the year, and I’m happy." When pressed about the F1 opportunity, he emphasized, “For the moment, I’m focused on this… Nothing has happened in the past two weeks.”

Should Drugovich be summoned to replace Stroll at the Canadian Grand Prix, Cadillac could face challenges, as they currently lack a designated reserve driver for Le Mans. Last year, Tristan Vautier filled this role, but he is scheduled to race with CLX Pure Racing in LMP2. Louis Deletraz, also a full-time Cadillac driver, has indicated a preference to remain in LMP2 if needed.

Drugovich further clarified Aston Martin’s position, revealing, “It’s just me,” when asked about other potential reserve drivers.

Reports suggest that Stroll is expected to participate in his home grand prix, though no official confirmation has been made, and a final decision is pending.

This dual-focus situation highlights the complex interplay between endurance racing and Formula 1, as teams navigate driver availability ahead of pivotal races.
