GetSpeed Reveals Line-Up for Suzuka 1000km Revival

GetSpeed, a prominent contender in the upcoming Suzuka 1000km, has officially announced its driver roster, featuring Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Philip Ellis at the helm of the #69 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Beside him are Bronze drivers Steve Jans and Anthony McIntosh, both making their debuts at the Suzuka circuit.

Ellis, the reigning IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTD Champion with Winward Racing, brings a wealth of endurance racing experience including victories in prestigious events at Daytona, Sebring, and Spa. His co-driver McIntosh has had a successful season, securing titles across multiple series including the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and the Porsche Endurance Challenge. Jans, with over a decade at GetSpeed, recently celebrated a win at the Road to Le Mans support race.

GetSpeed, based in the Nürburgring industrial park, earned the title of Mercedes-AMG’s most successful customer racing team for 2024, highlighting its recent successes in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and participation in various international racing series.

In parallel, Team 5Zigen has announced its driver lineup for the #500 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. Regulars Hiromasa Kitano and Yu Kanamaru will be joined by veteran Takayuki Aoki, who will make his 16th start at the event. Aoki, a two-time winner of the GT300 class, brings extensive experience with the GT-R platform. Kanamaru and Kitano achieved a notable overall victory at last year’s GT World Challenge Asia round in Suzuka, marking Nissan’s first GT3 win in SRO-sanctioned events since 2021.

Final entries for the 49th Suzuka 1000km will close on August 4.
