2025 European Le Mans Series: 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps Preview

The 2025 European Le Mans Series resumes this weekend with the 10th edition of the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. A competitive field of 44 cars, comprising 129 drivers from 29 nations, will take to the historic Belgian circuit, with local talents Sarah Bovy, Alessio Picariello, and Douwe Dedecker among the entrants.

LMP2 Class Overview

In LMP2, 13 entries will vie for victory. Championship leaders Ollie Gray, Charles Milesi, and Esteban Masson aim to leverage their recent win at Imola in the #48 VDS Panis Racing ORECA-Gibson, holding a narrow one-point lead over Jamie Chadwick and team in the #18 IDEC Sport ORECA. The latter aims to bounce back from a non-points finish at Imola, where Juncadella crashed into the barriers at Variante Alta.

IDEC’s sister car, #28, seeks redemption after retiring from an accident in Italy. Meanwhile, Inter Europol Competition’s trio of Jakub Smiechowski, Nick Yelloly, and Tom Dillmann sits third, 13 points off the lead, with Dillmann returning from injury for this critical race.

LMP2 Pro/Am and LMP3 Insights

The LMP2 Pro/Am standings remain highly competitive with only 13 points separating the top six teams. The #99 ORECA of AO by TF leads after their victory at Imola, with PJ Hyett looking to continue his winning streak. Proton Competition’s #77 ORECA and TDS Racing’s #29 entry are closely trailing.

In LMP3, CLX Motorsport’s #17 Ligier JS P325 remains unbeaten with three consecutive wins, holding a commanding 78 points. A win at Spa would secure the championship with two races left to run.

LMGT3 Competitive Landscape

The LMGT3 class has seen intense competition with multiple manufacturers taking wins. The Spirit of Race’s #55 Ferrari, currently leading with 39 points, has opted to race at Spa rather than compete in the British GT round. Close behind are TF Sport’s #82 Corvette and the Iron Dames’ #85 Porsche, with Bovy looking to leverage home advantage.

Key Race Information

Qualifying starts at 12:30 local time on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday at 13:00. Both sessions are accessible via the ELMS YouTube channel.

As the championship enters a crucial phase, the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps promises pivotal developments in the 2025 season.
