Ferrari Responds to Disqualification of #50 499P at 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours
Ferrari has officially addressed the disqualification of its #50 499P, which crossed the finish line in fourth place during the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours but was later deemed ineligible following post-race scrutineering due to a technical violation involving its rear wing.
The team reported that the #50 car, driven by Nicklas Nielsen, Miguel Molina, and Antonio Fuoco, was found to be missing four bolts from the central rear wing support. According to Ferrari, “Given the design of the element, the absence of one or more of these components did not compromise the car’s safety.” The team also noted that the loss of the remaining bolts during the race provided no performance advantage.
In a statement, Ferrari emphasized their surprise at the decision but reaffirmed their confidence in the professionalism of their team and the integrity of their operations within the FIA World Endurance Championship. Ferrari maintains its lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship with 172 points. In the Drivers’ Championship, the duo of Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado tops the standings with 105 points, trailed by their teammates and competitors.
The regulatory implications of the incident underscore the importance of strict adherence to technical specifications in endurance racing, as the team prepares for upcoming events, including the next round in Brazil in July.
