Hockenheimring Race 2 Report: Garage 59 Dominates

Hockenheim, Germany – Garage 59 secured a flawless victory in Race 2 of the GT Open at the Hockenheimring, driven by Tom Fleming and Marvin Kirchhöfer. Starting from pole position, Fleming maintained control, overcoming challenging wet conditions and a late race safety car.

Despite appearing straightforward, Kirchhöfer noted, “It may have looked easy from the outside, but it wasn’t, given that the wiper was not working and the dynamics during the restart.” Their triumph showcased rigorous teamwork and resilience.

Race Results:

  • 1st: Garage 59 – Tom Fleming/Marvin Kirchhöfer (McLaren)
  • 2nd: Eastalent – Simon Reicher/Christopher Haase (Audi)
  • 3rd: Motopark – Levente Révész/Max Götz (Mercedes)

Reicher and Haase claimed their fourth second-place finish of the season, narrowing their championship gap to Révész to just 2 points, who finished third alongside Götz.

In the Pro-Am category, ISR Racing celebrated a maiden victory with drivers Libor Milota and Filip Salaquarda, while SPS Mercedes and Motopark rounded out the podium.

In the Am class, Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo (AF Corse) celebrated their second win of the season, with Olimp Ferrari and Fullin Race Audi completing the top three.

The race began under wet conditions, with Fleming quickly establishing an early lead ahead of Haase, Götz, and others. Early laps saw various spins, including incidents involving Lamborghini drivers.

Following the pit stop phase, the race took a dramatic turn when a collision caused by driver "Hash" led to a deployment of the safety car. Kirchhöfer maintained the lead upon the race’s resumption, while battles for second place intensified but ultimately did not result in changes.

The race concluded with Kirchhöfer crossing the finish line first, with notable incidents including a late collision between Dörrbecker and Walker, as well as Milota’s victory in Pro-Am and Rugolo in Am.

Final Standings:

  1. Garage 59 (McLaren) – Fleming/Kirchhöfer
  2. Eastalent (Audi) – Reicher/Haaase
  3. Motopark (Mercedes) – Révész/Götz

This race further cements Garage 59’s position at the forefront of the championship as the season progresses.
