Genesis Magma Racing Finalizes Driver Line-Ups for 2026 FIA WEC Season

Genesis Magma Racing has officially announced its driver combinations for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), confirming the triad of racers for its two GMR-001 Hypercars.

Driver Compositions:

  • Car #17: Veteran drivers Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani will join forces with Trajectory Programme graduate Mathys Jaubert.
  • Car #19: This vehicle will feature Daniel Juncadella alongside former Alpine driver Paul Loup Chatin and ex-Porsche talent Mathieu Jaminet.

The team initially planned to separate Lotterer and Derani across the two cars. However, consistent performance during testing led to the decision to pair them in the #17 vehicle. “It became clear that the strongest option was to pair the two in the #17 GMR-001,” the team stated in a press release.

Team Insights:
Gabriele Tarquini, sporting director of Genesis Magma Racing, emphasized the strategic approach to the driver line-ups, stating, “Each of our drivers brings something different…what really matters is how they work together. Endurance racing is about trust and communication.”

Future Considerations:
There remains uncertainty regarding whether the team will adopt a two-driver format for shorter races this season, as a spokesperson indicated there are no updates available on that front.

This announcement is pivotal as Genesis Magma Racing launches into its rookie season, leveraging a mix of experience and youthful vigor to navigate the challenges ahead in the prestigious WEC.
