Ginetta G56 GT2 Set for Competitive Debut at GT2 European Series Finale

Barcelona, Spain – The Ginetta G56 GT2 will officially debut this weekend at the GT2 European Series finale, held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from October 10-12, 2025. This marks the first competitive outing for the new model, driven by Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and his son Freddie, as part of an entry in the Pro-Am class.

The entry comes as part of a 10-car field, managed by French team Classic & Modern Racing (CMR), which has experience in running Ginetta cars, including the G56 GT4 Evo in various championships. This event follows Tomlinson’s previous experience with a G56 GTX in an invitational capacity at Spa-Francorchamps in 2024, aimed at gaining insights into the GT2 category.

The G56 GT2 is equipped with a supercharged 6.3-litre V8 engine designed in-house, enhancing Ginetta’s diverse portfolio that includes Junior, Academy, GT4, and LMP3 categories. The car’s introduction signals the brand’s commitment to expanding its competitive footprint.

Mike Simpson, Chief Executive of Ginetta Motorsport, expressed enthusiasm for the vehicle’s capabilities: “We’re excited to announce that our all-new GT2 car will be making its competitive debut in Barcelona. This marks the start of a significant new chapter for Ginetta as a brand, taking us into new territory.”

This launch is expected to invigorate the GT2 European Series, which has averaged fewer than 10 entries per event this season. SRO, the series organizer, is planning a revamp for 2026, including the introduction of a new Silver class and a GT Academy initiative.

As Ginetta prepares for a full customer rollout ahead of the 2026 season, its performance in Barcelona will be closely monitored, representing a critical evaluation phase for the emerging model.
