Götz Targets Maiden British GT Title as Championship Battle Intensifies
Maximilian Götz of 2 Seas Motorsport is poised for a potential first British GT title, currently sitting second in the GT3 standings with 110 points ahead of the penultimate round at Brands Hatch. The competitive landscape features only an 18-point gap separating the top five teams, underscoring the high stakes as the series approaches its climax.
Götz has shared the #18 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with teammate Kevin Tse since debuting in 2024. The duo has achieved consistency this season, securing two wins and three additional podium finishes—an improvement over 2023. "It’s been pretty good in terms of pace," commented Götz. "We’ve already brought home trophies, including one at Oulton Park."
However, setbacks have marked their journey, particularly at Spa-Francorchamps when a crash caused by Tse removed them from contention. The team swiftly recovered, sourcing a replacement chassis and completing crucial repairs to return to form during the subsequent races at Snetterton, where they finished second in Race 1 and clinched victory in Race 2 despite facing a seven-second success penalty.
Götz attributed their resurgence to the professionalism of the 2 Seas Motorsport team, stating, "They really know the car well now. It’s my second year with them, and we’ve made good progress."
With Donington Park hosting the season finale, the battle heats up as Kiern Jewiss and Charles Dawson lead the championship on 118 points, closely followed by Götz and Tse. Götz emphasized the need for maximizing points: "There’s no time to play around. We’re going for every point we can get—full send, but without unnecessary risks."
As the title race narrows, Götz’s blend of experience and speed could be crucial in determining the outcome. With only two endurance races remaining, both he and Tse are in a strong position to challenge for the championship. The pressure is on as they must capitalize on every opportunity to secure their place at the top.
