British GT Free Practice: Götz Sets Early Pace
Maximilian Götz clocked the fastest time of the opening British GT free practice session with a 1:46.806 in the #18 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo. This impressive lap came on his second flying attempt, establishing a 0.268-second lead over Sandy Mitchell, who secured second in the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 with a time of 1:47.074.
Kiern Jewiss placed third in the sister #42 Mercedes-AMG, posting a 1:47.130, while Hugo Cook followed closely in fourth with a 1:47.147 for Barwell. Marvin Kirchhöfer completed the top five in the #77 Optimum Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, despite experiencing a rear-left puncture toward the session’s end.
Jonny Adam, driving the #7 Blackthorn Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo, recorded a 1:47.374 for sixth place, while Callum Macleod’s #3 Optimum Motorsport McLaren secured seventh with a time of 1:47.403. Notably, Porsche driver Sven Müller took eighth in the #66 Team Parker Racing Porsche 911 GT3.R with a lap of 1:47.438.
Marcus Clutton’s #67 Orange Racing by JMH McLaren finished ninth, hindered slightly by minor front-end damage after striking a bird late in the session, while Matt Griffin rounded out the top ten in the #55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 296 GT3.
In the GT4 category, Joe Wheeler led the pack with a 1:55.978 in the #88 Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo, ahead of Charlie Robertson in the #71 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 Evo at 1:56.082. Phil Keen’s #30 Team Parker Mercedes-AMG GT4 took third with a time of 1:56.834.
Pre-qualifying will continue the British GT action today at 12:05 local time with another 60-minute session.
