Gaspard Simon, the inaugural winner of the SRO GT Academy, will make his debut in the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup with the renowned Aston Martin team, Walkenhorst Motorsport. The 19-year-old French driver, who finished as the runner-up in last season’s GT4-based FFSA GT championship, will compete in the Silver Cup alongside an unconfirmed teammate.

With the support of a €150,000 grant from SRO, Simon’s transition to GT3 racing is poised to elevate his career in professional motorsports. “I am delighted to announce my partnership with Walkenhorst Motorsport,” Simon stated. “Thanks to the support of the SRO GT Academy and the FFSA Academy, I will be ideally prepared. I am highly motivated to take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

This marks Walkenhorst Motorsport’s first confirmed entry into the GT World Challenge Europe for the season. The team previously showcased strong performances, winning the Silver Cup at the 24 Hours of Spa and fielding multiple cars in the Endurance Cup.

Simon will be succeeded by six other winners from the SRO GT Academy this season, as competitions expand across various platforms, including the GT2 European Series and British GT. Stéphane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to fostering young talent: “GT racing now offers the greatest opportunities for young drivers who want to turn professional.”

The 2026 GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup kicks off at Brands Hatch on May 2-3.
