In a significant move for motorsports, Peter Auto and SRO Motorsports Group have announced the establishment of the GT3 Revival Series, unveiled at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. This new series will feature FIA GT3 cars homologated from 2006 to 2013, marking a nostalgic return to early GT3 competition.
The timing coincides with the 20th anniversary of the GT3 category in 2026, a benchmark year that underscores the class’s evolution into one of the most successful formats in motorsport history. SRO’s involvement is deeply rooted; they presented the original concept to the FIA in 2005 and have played an instrumental role in the category’s growth across various championships. Peter Auto, recognized for organizing prestigious classic motorsport events, including the Le Mans Classic and the Tour Auto, further complements SRO’s heritage in GT racing.
The GT3 Revival Series symbolizes a continuation of the long-standing collaboration between SRO founder Stéphane Ratel and Peter Auto’s Patrick Peter, who first co-promoted races in 1993. Their partnership laid the groundwork for the BPR Global GT Series, which significantly influenced modern GT racing.
