Bathurst 12 Hour Practice Highlights: Jamec Racing Leads Field

In a commanding performance during Practice 5 of the Bathurst 12 Hour, Jamec Racing’s #55 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO, driven by Christopher Haase, topped the timing sheets with a rapid 2:03.040, establishing the fastest lap of the event so far. This lap came as the session neared its conclusion, demonstrating the team’s strong form ahead of qualifying.

Haase’s initial lap of 2:03.447 put him in contention, but it was his second attempt that secured the top position by over two-tenths of a second. “The car felt good,” Haase commented post-session. “We made a few adjustments and had one clean lap, which worked out well, but the real test will be tomorrow.”

Scott Taylor Motorsport’s #222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, piloted by Cameron Waters, achieved a late push to finish second with a lap of 2:03.255, closely followed by the #75 Express AMG in third. Notably, the top ten cars all managed laps under 2:04.

The #268 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO from Team BRM claimed fourth overall, marking it as the fastest Pro/Am entry. Grove Racing’s #100 AMG secured the fifth spot. The #79 Tsunami RT Porsche recorded the fastest Bronze time, rounding out a competitive field that maintained a clean session with minimal incidents.

Two cars were notably absent: the Team NZ Aston Martin Vantage GT4 was withdrawn following an incident in Practice 4, and the #111 Racing IRC GT was also missing. The #26 Arise Racing Ferrari faced technical issues, suffering from sensor failures and a coolant leak but was able to make a brief return to the track after repairs.

Looking ahead, the final practice session will commence at 10:05 am local time on Saturday, providing teams one last opportunity to calibrate their setups before the race.
