HWA Unveils EVO.R for 2026 ADAC 24H Nürburgring
Affalterbach, Germany – HWA has officially revealed the EVO.R, a modern adaptation of the classic DTM Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II, set to compete in the SP-X class at the 2026 ADAC 24H Nürburgring. The team will field three entries, expanding from the original plan for two cars due to heightened interest.
The EVO.R features significant updates, including a new twin-turbo three-litre V6 engine, enhancing its competitive edge in endurance racing. Each car will showcase a heritage livery supported by period sponsors Kärcher and SONAX.
Joining the driver line-up is three-time 24H Nürburgring winner Markus Winklehock, alongside Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig. Notably, Asch and Ludwig are the sons of former winners in the original 190E category.
Martin Marx, CEO of HWA, expressed enthusiasm over the project: “Having been involved in top-level motorsport at the Nürburgring for over 25 years, the circuit is like a second home to us. We are incredibly excited to finally compete in a car of our own.”
Testing for the EVO.R will commence this week at Portimão, ahead of the 24-hour race scheduled for May 14-17, 2026. This marks a significant step for HWA as it returns to the Nürburgring with a modernized version of a racing icon.
