IMSA and Michelin Renew Long-term Partnership Through 2035
The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) has announced a significant extension of its partnership with Michelin, designating the tire manufacturer as the “Official Tire of IMSA” through the 2035 season. This agreement signifies continuity for Michelin as the exclusive tire supplier for IMSA’s premier series, including the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Michelin Pilot Challenge, and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge.
IMSA President John Doonan stated, “Michelin has been an exceptional partner in helping IMSA deliver the best endurance sports car racing in the world.” He emphasized the alignment of both organizations’ commitment to innovation and sustainability as a cornerstone for future collaboration.
The renewed partnership also includes the introduction of new GTP tires, set to debut in 2026. Michelin’s ongoing role as the entitlement sponsor for the Michelin Pilot Challenge and the Michelin Endurance Cup further solidifies its support for IMSA’s competitive landscape.
Ed Bennett, IMSA CEO, remarked on the strategic collaboration: “Since 2019, Michelin has been more than just a tire supplier. This extension is a testament to the strength and shared vision of our relationship.” Furthermore, Michelin has extended its sponsorship of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, highlighting its long-term commitment to the sport.
Michelin’s executive vice president, Alexis Garcin, noted, “IMSA gives us a competitive ecosystem to validate new technologies under real pressure,” underscoring the brand’s dedication to innovation in motorsports.
A new initiative, the IMSA Michelin Sustainability in Racing Award, will launch at the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona. This award aims to honor GTP cars demonstrating superior sustainability performance based on metrics such as tire usage, energy efficiency, and race finish position.
The award results will be integrated into race broadcasts and recognized during podium celebrations, culminating in a season champion presentation at the IMSA Night of Champions, led by Michelin leadership.
Nora Vass, Director of Marketing for Michelin Motorsports, expressed pride in the partnership’s extension, stating, “Together, we’re committed to delivering exceptional performance and shaping the future of sports car racing.”
This marks the second renewal of the IMSA-Michelin partnership, following a previous extension in 2023 that extended the relationship through the 2028 season. Beyond technical contributions, Michelin will continue to support the “Win The Weekend Presented by Michelin” docuseries on YouTube, reinforcing its position as a key marketing partner within the IMSA framework.
