IMSA Announces 2026 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Entry Lists
Road Atlanta – The IMSA State of the Series conference today revealed significant details regarding the upcoming 2026 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. IMSA President John Doonan confirmed a robust lineup featuring 45 full-season entries across the four main categories and 54 cars slated for five Michelin Endurance Cup races, including the addition of Road America.
Season Overview:
- The Rolex 24 at Daytona is anticipated to exceed 60 entries, bolstering its status as a marquee event.
GTP Class: 11 Entries
The GTP category will see 11 cars from five manufacturers: Acura, BMW, Cadillac, Porsche, and Aston Martin. Key changes include:
- Returning Entries: Cadillac, Acura, and Aston Martin will continue with their established setups.
- New Entries: Porsche Penske Motorsport is set to debut two 963a models after departing from the FIA WEC Hypercar class.
- Notable Omissions: The Lamborghini SC63 and privately entered Porsche 963 are absent. Team WRT replaces Rahal Letterman Lanigan at BMW.
LMP2 Class: 12 Entries
The LMP2 category maintains a competitive field with 12 cars from 11 teams.
- Team Highlights: United Autosports USA leads with a two-car effort, while others like CrowdStrike Racing and TDS Racing will field single entries. Newcomer Team Tonis moves to a full-time effort after previously participating part-time.
GTD PRO Class: 8 Entries
The GTD PRO class comprises eight entries, with prominent teams continuing their competition:
- Main Entries: Corvette Racing and Ford Multimatic provide two-car efforts. Supporting entries will come from Paul Miller Racing, Pfaff Motorsports, and Vasser Sullivan Racing.
- Changes: The absence of Paul Miller Racing’s second car marks a notable shift compared to 2025.
GTD Class: 14 Entries
The GTD category features a solid 14-car lineup with five entries confirmed for the Michelin Endurance Cup.
- Team Debutants: 13 Motorsports returns with a rebranded name, while Riley transitions from LMP2. Notably, DragonSpeed steps down to GTD after competing in GTD PRO.
