KCMG Prepares for NLS3 with Star-Studded Line-Up at Nürburgring
Nürburgring, Germany – Team KCMG will compete in the third round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie (NLS) this weekend, aiming to build upon its earlier success with the Mercedes-AMG GT3. After a 10th-place finish in NLS2, the squad has assembled a formidable driver line-up for the four-hour race.
Driver Line-Up:
- David Pittard and Jesse Krohn return in the #47 Mercedes-AMG GT3, both bringing vital experience from their initial outing this season.
- Edoardo Liberati, a regular since 2019, enhances the team with his extensive Nürburgring 24 Hours history.
- Kamui Kobayashi, Toyota Racing WEC driver and team principal, makes his GT3 debut following his permit completion in GT4.
Kobayashi expressed enthusiasm about his first venture into GT3 racing at the Nordschleife, stating, “I’m excited and looking forward to the week with KCMG,” highlighting his gradual approach to adapting to the challenging circuit.
Team Insights:
Pittard noted the potential shown in their previous race, aiming to enhance performance at NLS3. “It was a great start to the project; I’m excited to see what else we can achieve,” he said.
Krohn emphasized the significance of upcoming races, aligning their preparations for the Nürburgring 24 Hours next month. “These will be the final opportunities to get everything dialled in,” he remarked.
Liberati supported this sentiment, underscoring the promising performance of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 during NLS2.
Strategic Focus:
Team manager Matt Howson acknowledged the steep learning curve for Kobayashi but is optimistic about the team’s collective experience. “NLS3 is another important step in this process, and our objective is to gather more data and refine the overall package,” he noted.
KCMG founder Paul Ip reiterated the goal of continuous improvement ahead of the 24-hour race, emphasizing the value Kobayashi brings to the team.
Race Schedule:
Qualifying for NLS3 begins at 08:30 local time on Saturday, with the race set to start at 12:00. The team is keen to leverage the opportunity to solidify its competitive edge.
