Logan Sargeant Joins PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports for IMSA Season Finale

Indianapolis, IN – Former Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant is set to return to motorsport, joining PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports for the final two races of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Sargeant will pilot the #52 ORECA 07-Gibson at the TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

This announcement follows Sargeant’s recent move to Oliver Gavin Motorsport Management (OGMM), aimed at a sustained sports car racing career. He will share driving duties with Naveen Rao, serving as the designated Bronze driver, and Benjamin Pedersen, who has been a consistent presence for PR1 this season.

Sargeant expressed enthusiasm about his comeback, stating, "I’m super excited to be jumping back into a car for the last two LMP2 races in IMSA… I’m eager to contribute to a successful couple of races for the team."

Prior to his stint in Formula 1, Sargeant achieved notable milestones in karting and junior single-seater categories, including winning the FIA Karting World KF Junior Championship and finishing third in the 2020 FIA Formula 3 Championship. He secured his FIA Super License after a commendable fourth-place finish in the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship.

In his brief history within sports car racing, Sargeant impressed in 2021 by securing pole position on debut in the European Le Mans Series and recorded two entries in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. During his F1 tenure with Williams Racing, he became the first American driver to earn World Championship points since Michael Andretti at the 2023 United States Grand Prix.

PR1 Team Principal Bobby Oergel remarked on Sargeant’s addition: "We are very excited that Logan is able to join us… I am sure Logan’s pace will be top-notch." His co-drivers Rao and Pedersen echoed this sentiment, anticipating a strong performance as they push for victory in the season’s closing events.

The IMSA races represent a renewed chapter for Sargeant, reinvigorating a promising career in top-tier motorsport as he transitions back to endurance racing.
