Cadillac Dominates Hyperpole at Le Mans with Historic Performance
Le Mans, France — In a remarkable display of speed and strategy, Cadillac secured its inaugural pole position at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, achieving a front-row lockout during Hyperpole thanks to Alex Lynn’s stellar performance in the #12 Cadillac Hertz Team Jota V-Series.R. Lynn clinched the pole with a blistering final sector, marking a significant redemption after narrowly missing out on pole in the previous year’s event.
“It feels special,” Lynn stated. “I waited 12 months to do this again… To prove yourself as the fastest over one lap… it means something on pride, and that’s what we got racing for, right?”
Cadillac’s achievement is historic, as it marks the first pole for an American manufacturer since Ford in 1967 and the first for a British driver since Johnny Herbert in 2004. Lynn’s pole adds to his previous successes, making it his second in the Hypercar category.
The #12 Cadillac was joined on the front row by its sister car, the #15 Cadillac M Team WRT M Hybrid V8, while the #311 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R qualified eighth. This achievement is not only a win for Cadillac but also a testament to the synergy between all three teams collaborating under the Cadillac Racing banner.
Keely Bohn, Cadillac Racing’s program manager, expressed her pride: “We showed up in qualifying, we showed up in Hyperpole… We are really coming in strong for the race itself.”
LMP2 and GT Class Highlights
In other qualifying action, Mathias Beche of TDS Racing earned his first LMP2 pole in the #29 ORECA, becoming the first Swiss driver to achieve this since 2020. Meanwhile, Mattia Drudi in the #27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 secured the LMGT3 pole, adding to Aston Martin’s significant history in GT racing.
Drudi’s pole represents the 68th for Aston Martin across GTE Pro, GTE Am, and LMGT3, solidifying its status as the leading marque in multiple categories.
As the teams prepare for the race on Saturday, Cadillac and its drivers emerge as formidable contenders, buoyed by a wave of momentum and confidence.
