Barwell Motorsport Completes Trio of Drivers for 2026 British GT Campaign
Barwell Motorsport has finalized its driver line-up for the 2026 British GT Championship, featuring Alex Martin and newcomer Jarrod Waberski across its three Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 entries. This marks Martin’s third season with the team, where he has previously secured four outright wins.
With Sandy Mitchell tied up with IMSA WeatherTech commitments, Waberski steps into the seat for his British GT debut. The 20-year-old South African transitions from a successful campaign in the GT World Challenge Europe, where he clinched the Silver title driving for Century Motorsport in a BMW M4 GT3 Evo.
Waberski expressed enthusiasm about joining Barwell, stating, “After one test in the Lamborghini, I felt right at home…I have to fill big boots after Sandy, but I’m confident I can get into the mix.” He aims to contend for both the Silver-Am title and the overall GT3 championship alongside Martin, a seasoned competitor acknowledged for his performance.
Martin articulated his goals, noting, “British GT feels like unfinished business. We came close to the title in 2024 and aim to improve on our qualifying pace this season.” He highlighted his intent to learn from Waberski while also sharing insights from his extensive experience.
Team principal Mark Lemmer underscored the strategic expansion to three competitive entries, asserting, “Our goal is clear: to fight for the GT3 Drivers’ titles and the Teams’ championship.” The team’s confidence stems from the combination of proven talent in Martin and the promising potential of Waberski, setting a formidable foundation for their 2026 campaign.
