VDS Panis Racing Secures Pole Position for ELMS 4 Hours of Silverstone
Silverstone, UK – VDS Panis Racing will start from pole position in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) Goodyear 4 Hours of Silverstone following an impressive qualifying performance by Esteban Masson, who recorded a lap time of 1:42.343. This qualifying result boosts the team’s lead in the championship standings to 21 points, with the potential to clinch the title by extending the gap to 27 points in tomorrow’s race.
“This has been our strongest weekend yet; Esteban delivered an outstanding lap,” said Oliver Gray. “We just need a clean race as Inter Europol is competitive here.”
Iron Lynx Proton claimed the second spot on the grid with Matteo Cairoli setting a time of 1:42.704. Inter Europol finished third, pushing their championship hopes further back, while the #25 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA secured fourth with a time of 1:43.037.
In the LMP2 Pro/Am class, A.O. By TF edged closer to championship leaders with PJ Hyett securing pole with a 1:45.318, just 0.017 seconds ahead of Proton Competition’s Giorgio Roda. This critical point narrows the gap to just two points behind Algarve Pro Racing.
TDS Racing made a notable return to form following a mishap earlier in the weekend, qualifying third in LMP2 with Rodrigo Sales and a best time of 1:46.228.
The LMP3 category saw Griffin Peebles of WTM by Rinaldi take pole with a time of 1:53.038, ending CLX Motorsport’s streak of pole positions as Peebles’ performance marked the team’s first of the season.
In LMGT3, Iron Dames’ Célia Martin achieved her first pole position in the #85 Porsche 911 GT3 R with a time of 2:11.819. This significant performance places the Iron Dames level with Racing Spirit of Leman in the championship standings.
The 4 Hours of Silverstone race will commence at 11:00 local time on Sunday, an hour earlier than scheduled due to adverse weather forecasts. The event can be streamed live on the ELMS YouTube channel.
