Drudi Set for FIA WEC Rookie Test in Aston Martin Valkyrie
Bahrain International Circuit – Mattia Drudi, a prominent driver for the Heart of Racing’s full-season entry in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), will participate in the upcoming Rookie Test at the Bahrain International Circuit. Drudi, 27, will take the wheel of one of the team’s Aston Martin Valkyrie LMH cars next Sunday.
Drudi comes to the test with a solid background, having secured victory at the 2024 Spa 24 Hours with Comtoyou Racing, before joining Heart of Racing as a Pro driver in 2025. His strong track record positions him as a notable talent in the LMH category.
In addition, Gray Newell, 28 and son of team founder Gabe Newell, will also participate in the Rookie Test, driving the LMGT3 spec Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Newell has been active this season in the Pro-Am class of GT World Challenge America, partnering with veteran driver Darren Turner.
The test is pivotal, as it allows both drivers to showcase their skills in advanced machinery, providing valuable feedback to the team ahead of the next competitive season.
